'The Wild Ones' : Comment by Michael Schroeder (31 October 2005)

I have received my copy of 'The Wild Ones'. I fully expected this to be a typical hunting book, but was pleasantly surprised. Of course, the typical stories about hunting were there, but there was also a great deal of information about grouse in general. In fact, I found more information on the forest grouse than I expected, and not just the typical ruffed grouse. The best part of the book was the pictures. There are some beautiful prints in the book, including a beautiful color print of a spruce grouse and another of a blue grouse. As a North American I get so used to seeing ruffed grouse prints, when I see one of the other grouse I can't help but notice.
